Discover the Emotional Power of Hiroshi no Kaisou – A song from Shin-chan Film

There are numerous soundtracks in the anime movie The Adult Empire Strikes Back, with around 15 songs. One of the songs that are played in the movie is Hiroshi no Kaisou or Hiroshi’s Recollection composed by Shiro Hamaguchi. To bring Shin-chan’s father back to reality from hypnotization, Shin-chan sniffs his stinky shoes, which brings his memories from the past back.

One of the initial lines in the movie is

‘Is nostalgia that great?’

We often think of nostalgia as past memories, but in reality, it is not. It is just a fragment of good memories. When we become adults, it is not that adulthood is difficult, it is that responsibilities and the will to give our loved ounces happiness give us sometimes a hard time as we always want to go over and beyond. It is because memories are better than just the good parts.

The stinky shoe releases all the memories. The song, shows Hiroshi Nohara, Shin-chan’s dad's memories. Starting from childhood, when he his riding cycle with his dad to go fishing. Then his memory of love and break up. The memory of his moving to the city for work, meeting his future wife, birth to Shin-chan. Moving to a new home, getting on the train, tired back from work to be at home. His stinky socks, bathing with his kids and finally, the song ends similarly as it started, now Hiroshi Nohara taking his father's place in the bicycle with Shin-chan in the back seat with a fishing rod going fishing along with his wife and other kid. Life is just not one kind of emotion, it is happiness, sadness, mundane, love, heartbreak, praises, and scolding, it is all these that make a memory.

Hence the name Hiroshi no Kaisou, or Hiroshi’s Recollection.

PianiCast uses the falling sticks in the video with a darker background. Those falling sticks fall on the keys, which is an easier method for people who are new to the music learning journey and do not know how to read music sheets. That effect used where the piano keys glow is done by the editing called After Effects. It is still best to learn to read music sheets as it will help in playing all other kinds of songs, and it gives more independence when playing an instrument.
